Jude’s stars help Dubs Juniors reach All-Ireland decider

ST JUDE’S players Aoife Walsh, Caragh Dawson, Emma Barron and Eimear O’Riordan played a major part in helping propel Dublin’s Premier Junior Camogie team past the challenge of Offaly and into the All-Ireland decider on Saturday in Kinnegad.

Led by manager Shane Plowman of Thomas Davis, the Dubs emerged 3-12 to 1-3 winners, setting up a title match against Kerry in Croke Park on September 9.

The Blues, which also included Ballinteer’s Louise O’Shea in their starting line-up with Lucan’s Emer Keenan, Emma O’Flynn, St Finian’s Ciara Buchannan and another Jude’s player Sinead Nolan had to negotiate a big test by Offaly early on before taking a grip on pro-ceedings by halftime.

The sides were deadlocked at two points apiece, before Dawson, Walsh, Aoibhe Dillon and Aoife Bugler all struck over to see Dublin 0-8 to 0-2 in front by the break.

With the wind at their backs in the second period, Dublin contin-ued to put more day- light between them- selves and their oppon-ents after the recess.

Dillon followed in on a rebound to tuck the ball away for the game’s first goal only to see Offaly respond in kind.

Dawson and Dillon again struck over the bar before Bugler found the back of the net and Laoise Quinn followed suit to help put Dublin well out of sight.

The convincing nature of their win will be a huge boost for Plowman’s side who will be back in GAA Headquarters looking to banish the pain of the All-Ireland Championship title defeat they suffered at the hands of Westmeath last season.
