Kiltipper Woods Care Centre extension plans

KILTIPPER Woods Care Centre is set to get a new two-storey extension, pending permission being granted of a new planning application.

South Dublin County Council is considering the planning application which has been lodged by Stanford Woods Care Centre Ltd.

The proposed development, which relates to the care home off Kiltipper Road, Bohernabreena, is for extension and alterations consisting of a two-storey extension at the front main entrance of the existing building.

At ground floor, there will be the addition of 371.5sq.m and on the first floor aspect of the plans, it will see the addition of 367.5sq. of floor space.

The extension will match the existing mansard roof profile and the first floor will be reorganised over an area of 272.2sq.m with the addition of nine dormer windows.

All associated services, connections and site works are included in the proposals.

Third party submissions are being accepted by the local planning authority up to November 23.

The council is set to make a decision on this planning application by December 14, 2021.

Permission was granted for the residential care centre in July 2002 following an application from Durkan New Homes Ltd, Dermot McDermott and Mary Woods.

Those plans included the construction of a new residential care unit along with the renovation and conversion of Kiltipper House to provide residential staff accommodation.

The entire site stretches to 4.3 acres, with Kiltipper Woods Care Home built at the site of Kiltipper House, which is also known as Masseys Farmyard.

In 2018, permission was granted to extend the facility, including the extension of a number of bedrooms into doubles and a couple of new rooms.

Over the years, several planning applications seeking to extend the facility have gone through the council and got the green-light.
