LEO helps shape and grow Weighless Wonders vision

A weight loss and wellness network has launched an exciting new app and employed additional staff with the assistance of the Local Enterprise Office.

Weighless Wonders, who provide in-person classes in Tallaght, Clondalkin and Rathfarnham and around the country, have recently launched a Food app called NutraVerse which helps customers with sustainability and avoiding ultra processed foods.

Caraldine Nolan, owner and Chief Executive Officer of Weighless Wonders explains how the ethos behind Weighless Wonders aligns with its new app.

“In today’s wellness landscape, the link between ultra-processed foods and non-communicable diseases is a growing concern. Research from the International Agency for Research on Cancer highlights the potential dangers of highly processed foods, emphasising the need for healthier, more informed choices. Weighless Wonders is at the forefront of this movement and is dedicated to making wellness accessible through its newly launched app, NutraVerse,” she said.

With the help of the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) and the Priming Grant, Weighless Wonders were able to complete and launch the NutraVerse app and to employ additional staff, according to Caraldine

“We have three employees, with the assistance of the LEO we were able to employ two [more] people,” she said.

The CEO said that the journey of Weighless Wonders has been guided from the very beginning by invaluable mentorship and support, including from the LEO.

“With the help of James Barrett, our mentor at the Local Enterprise Centre, we were able to shape our business, grow strategically, and develop NutraVerse. His advice, with the support from LEO and Enterprise Ireland’s New Frontiers Programme, played a pivotal role in helping us bring our vision to life. These collaborations have been essential to our success, both locally and internationally,” said Caraldine.

With the assistance of the LEO, Weighless Wonders have also been able to expand into other markets.

“Weighless Wonders has created a community of people who are passionate about improving their health, both in-person and online. Our expansion has been made possible with continued support from LEO, including the LEO TAME Grant, which is helping us take Weighless Wonders and NutraVerse into the UK market,” said Caraldine.

NutraVerse, which is empowering individuals across Europe to take control of their health and wellness, is also more than just a tool, according to the CEO.

“It’s a comprehensive guide that helps people make smarter, healthier food choices. The app is built around three key scoring systems that provide users with detailed information about the foods they eat,” said Caraldine.

The three key scoring systems include NutriScore, which grades food based on its nutritional quality, EcoScore, which gives insights into the environmental impact of food and Nova Score, which focuses on the level of processing.

In addition to these scores, NutraVerse tracks calories and macronutrients, allowing users to set and reach their personal health and fitness goals with greater ease.

Testament to the great strides Caraldine’s business has made, it was awarded the Emerging Business Award by the Small Firms Association for 2024.

“This recognition confirms that our efforts are making a real impact, and with the continuous support of LEO, our mentor James Barrett, and local enterprise initiatives, we are excited about what the future holds,” added Caraldine.
