Leo hosts workshop to prepare business for post-Brexit customs
WITH THE threat of Brexit approaching over the past three years, the Local Enterprise Office is now hosting a workshop to prepare businesses for the seemingly inevitable.
For local businesses planning to continue moving goods to, from or through the United Kingdom (UK) after they leave the European Union, the one-day interactive workshop is aimed at helping business owners about customs.

The UK will become a ‘third country’ in terms of how customs procedures operate should they leave the Customs Union and Single Market, and the event, which is open to businesses from all sectors, will teach companies how to adopt their trading practices accordingly.
The free event will cover areas on how tariffs work, what import/export procedures will apply, and how to classify goods correctly, when it kicks off at 9am next Wednesday, August 21.
Fully funded by the Department of Business, Enterprise, and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland, the workshop will be delivered by BDO Ireland on behalf of the Local Enterprise Office in the Red Cow Moran Hotel on the Naas Road.
The aim of the training workshop is to help local businesses wrap their heads around the administrative process for importing and exporting procedures, such as the Electronic Declaration Process and Automated Entry Processing, tariffs, the Authorised Economic Operator process, and custom formalities at borders.
