Lessons in Light: Chaos in a brand-new world

Tallaght native Shane Ó Fearghail and his band ‘The Host’ are proud to introduce ‘Valley of Coincidence’, a new single from their album ‘Lessons in Light’, reports Ryan Butler.

‘Valley of Coincidence’ delves deeper into the Appalachian heritage and Celtic soul, with a more political tone.

The narrative takes place in the Appalachian Mountains about 1766, just before the American Revolution began, among chaos in a brand-new world.

It centres on the romance between a Cherokee woman and an Irish settler.

With this latest song, Shane set out to “document issues of the age, colonialism, land grabs, and the growth of capitalism.”

He does so by trying to incorporate that into a human story, and using the voice of Mother Nature to plead with the Europeans to “be gentle with the land and its people.”

The song was written, recorded, and edited over a 4-5 year process that involved much research about the era in which the song is set.

Right now, the band is promoting the album, putting together promo and media packages for bookings and festivals, and playing live shows.

Shane would like to thank the members of ‘The Host’, Claudia, David, Emily, Johnny, and Ken, as well as Sad Opera Entertainment, Fusion Bags, the Arge Musik Austria team, his co-producer Christian Knollmueller, all the radio stations worldwide that have played the band’s songs, their media partners who continue to support them, The Echo for their continued support, and everyone who has supported the songs, the music, and the band.

‘Lessons in Light’ is available to listen to on all streaming platforms, and one can find more information about upcoming dates on the Shane Ó Fearghail website.
