YOUNG mother of two Lisa Dalton will be remembered next month with a golf classic in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.

Lisa died in September 2016 after a year-long battle with breast cancer. She was just 35 and left behind her loving husband Conor and two young children, now aged eight and four.

Conor told The Echo: “We thought that the Marie Keating Foundation would be the ideal charity. A few days before she passed away Lisa told me that she did not want any flowers at her funeral and asked that people donate to the Marie Keating Foundation.

“Lisa had raised money throughout her life and had done the Pink Run, the Colour Dash and the Mini Marathon and it was always for breast cancer awareness.”

So far, 33 teams have signed up for the Golf Classic and a few people have sponsored tee boxes.

Conor said: “People have been very supportive. We are getting a lot of positive vibes. We want to get a lot of donations for spot prizes and for hampers.

“It can be hard collecting. Some companies have their own charities that they give to. You might send out 50 emails and get 30 replies back and then only a few donations from that.

“We are thankful and appreciate all the support we are receiving for the golf classic.”

All sponsorships and donors will be acknowledged on a sponsorship board at the event.

Lisa’s former employer, UCD, have named an award after her which will be awarded every year to the second-year pharmacology student who receives the highest marks.

The Lisa Dalton Golf Classic will be held in Castleknock Golf Club on Friday, June 16.

All proceeds will go to the Marie Keating Foundation, a charity that was very close to Lisa’s heart.

With tee times from 1.30pm, the cost for a team of four will be €200 per team and this includes food. Individual entries will be added to teams. The format will be a scramble with a pink ball twist. There will be a raffle on the day with over 30 prizes.

Participants will be encouraged to wear something pink on the day.
