THE local elections provide an opportunity for advancement and productivity, according to Dublin Chamber, who congratulate all successful candidates entering into new terms on the four Dublin local authorities.

South Dublin County Council has 40 councillors and includes many from a business background.

“We look forward to working with them over the next five years. Many candidates spoke on the issue of safety in Dublin and now, as the new council term starts, it is more important than ever that this issue remains at the heart of decision-making in the capital,” said the chamber in a statement.

The Chamber noted the incidents of serious crime on the streets which “cannot become the norm.”

“Dublin Chamber has long advocated for a holistic approach to safety in Dublin, that works arm in arm with An Garda Siochana. This includes intensive cleansing of the streets, a public realm that is accessible and enjoyable for all who use the city and a street scape that is not marred by dereliction but one that is full of mixed used buildings from residential and cultural to commercial.

“The new council terms hold great potential for productivity and progression/advancement in Dublin, marking an exciting time for people who live, work, and run a business in the city.

With promised infrastructure projects such as Metro, DART+ Coast North and South, and Bus Connects in development, it is vital that these projects are prioritised to get Dublin moving and for it to remain an attractive place to invest, live and work.”
