A PERSONAL trainer from Tallaght pushed his way to a weighty €11,000 in fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society.

Darren Murray, of Darren Murray Personal Training, and two team-mates embarked on a gruelling 12-hour sled push in his Tallaght-based premises on Friday, February 24 – with the trio pushing 100kgs, non-stop, for a calculated distance of around 20km.

Darren, who is originally from Springfield and now living in Maelruain’s Park, told The Echo that the lads chose the Irish Cancer Society as it was a charity “close to all of our hearts”.

Alongside sponsorship, Darren, and his team-mates Andrew Dunne and Karl Doherty, raised money through a cake sale, prize giveaways and an online donations page on justgiving.com.

Thanking everybody who supported the charity push, Darren confirmed that €11,000 was raised and will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society.

Darren Murray Personal Training is based in the Enterprise Centre on Main Road, Tallaght.
