Lucan draw as Boden down Jude’s
Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship took place at the weekend as the group stages nears its conclusion, reports James Ffrench.
Lucan Sarsfields held seven-time Senior Hurling champions Kilmacud Crokes to a 0-19 to 1-16 draw. Crokes led at half time 0-10 to 0-07 in no small part to Oisin O’Rourke who landed six of their 10 first half points.
Two brilliant scores from the ever influential Conal Ó Riain after the interval tightened Kilmacud’s grip on the game.
Six second half frees from Ben Coffey kept Lucan within striking distance, and their pursuit would be aided by a late red card from Brian Sheehy setting up a grandstand finish in Parnell Park.
Crokes were determined to prevent any late drama from occurring as Dublin Senior hurlers Ronan Hayes and Alex Considine stretched the lead to five, but there would be a sting in the tale yet.
Another Coffey free was followed up by the only goal of the game, as Ciaran Dowling’s long strike fooled Eddie Gibbons in the Crokes goal.
Lucan, with momentum firmly in their favour struck the leveller through a late point by Charlie Keher.

Ballyboden St Enda’s gather possession against St Jude’s
Sarsfields have now secured their place in the final stages of the championshaip, regardless of what happens in the final round of fixtures.
A win against Na Fianna could potentially secure top spot for Lucan, depending on the result between Kilmacud Crokes and St Brigids.
In Group 2, Ballyboden St Enda’s secured second spot in the table as they defeated close rivals St Judes 2-24 to 1 15 in O’Toole Park.
Boden started the better as they found an early goal from Luke McDwyer.
Niall McMorrow shone throughout as he picked up ten points, including six from play. Judes found themselves 1-12 to 0-07 down at the interval, even with the best efforts of John Carty and Joe McManus.
After the break, a maximum from the aforementioned Carty brought the gap down to four but Boden responded immediately through a goal of their own through Darragh Kenny.
David Gleeson and Niall Ryan stood out for the victors, notching four points each from play in what was a comprehensive win for Ballyboden over their close neighbours.
Boden face Craobh Chiarain in the final round of fixtures with progression to the quarter finals already secured.
A victory will guarantee second place in Group 2 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior 1 Hurling Championship, anything else means Boden will have to rely upon 3rd place Whitehall also failing to pick up a result.
