Lucan target summit
LUCAN United are back in action this coming weekend in the FAI National League after their previous game against Bonagee United was called off due to a weather warning last weekend.
Now they will hope to have benefitted from the unplanned week of rest as they make the short trip over to Home Farm DCU this coming Saturday for a 2pm kick off.
The two sides have played each other already this month with their game on October 3rd ending in a stalemate after a 2-2 draw.
Conall Cronin and Dylan Hand would be the two Lucan players that got on the scoresheet that day and the side will be hoping for a similarly fruitful attacking performance.
It is a real battle for the top spot in Group 1 of the National League this campaign. Home Farm currently hold the number one podium position having not lost any of their opening seven games so far with the team managing four wins and three draws.
Their most recent outing was a draw against second place Mervue United who sit on 12 points in second place position, three points behind Home Farm.
That leaves Lucan in third place on 11 points though their main advantage comes from having played a game less than their two competitors.
After losing to Mervue on the opening day of the season 2-1, Lucan have not lost a game since and have managed to pick up three wins and two draws in following games. Their most recent game saw them put five past Cockhill Celtic in a dominant 5-2 win.
However, being scheduled for a rest week and combined with the weather warning means they will have not played a competitive game since October 10th by the time the fixture against Home Farm rolls around this Saturday.
A positive result is vital if they wish to overthrow Home Farm from the top spot of the table and make the most of their game in hand.
