Lumper planting connects with the people over 170 years ago
THIS year’s Lumper Schools Project – which is spearheaded by a Tallaght-based Famine commemoration group – was recently launched in the Department of Education.
The project has already seen a number of local schools, such as Scoil Santain and Coláiste de híde, start to grow their own crop of Lumper potatoes, which are synonymous with the Irish Famine.
