Machine gun, suspected handgun and ammunition seized by Garda

GARDAI seized a machine gun, a suspected handgun and rounds of ammunition during their ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled substances.

The Garda operation led to multiple units carrying out the search of a house in Clondalkin at 6.30pm on Wednesday evening.

During the search, the District Drugs Unit and District Detective Unit from Tallaght and assisted by the Community Gardaí located the firearms and ammunition. No arrests were made.

In a statement, a spokesperson from An Garda Síochána said: “As part of an ongoing operation by Gardaí into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Dublin Metropolitan Region West area, Gardaí attached to the District Drugs Unit and District Detective Unit, Tallaght and assisted by Community Gardaí carried out searches of a house in the Clondalkin Dublin 22 area.

“Gardaí located a machine gun a suspected handgun and rounds of ammunition.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”
