Magnificent support at fundraising event for autism respite services
UP TO €3,000 has been raised for Autism respite services after two fundraiser events were held in recent weeks.
Last week, kids in Cherry Orchard took part in a fashion show at the Orchard Community Centre.
The event was organised by Cherry Orchard mother-of-five Jennifer Conway, who has two kids Jamie (13) and Jake (12) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Jennifer secured magnificent support in the community for the fashion show, with backing from professional model Gary Talbot, local retail stores, Ballyfermot College of Further Education, and a local dance school.
“It went really well, BCFE students really pulled it out of the bag with the lighting,” said Jennifer. “It looked so professional – there was up to 200 kids there.”
Between the fashion show and a recent fitness marathon in Palmerstown, Jennifer has raised nearly €3,000 for autism respite services in Stillorgan.
“We plan to do another big one in April for respite services in Clondalkin,”she said. “It’s about giving something back, and checking if there is anything essential respite services in Dublin need.”
