Man (20s) arrested in relation to €1.1m invoice redirect fraud

GARDAI attached to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) arrested a man in the Tallaght area today, April 22.

According to a Garda statement released, the man, aged in his twenties, was arrested in relation to the ongoing investigation under Operation PARADE.

The man is currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Gardai have said that this man (20s) is the third person who has been arrested as part of this investigation.

According to gardai, Operation PARADE is an investigation being conducted by GNECB into the theft of approximately €1.1m from a Dublin based company in November 2020 in an invoice redirect fraud.

The company received an email which they believed to be from a trading company telling them that their bank account was changed and to send the money to a new bank account.

In this instance, with the co-operation of various banks, around €1 million of this stolen money was recovered in various other bank accounts. 

Investigations are ongoing.
