Man (30s) arrested in relation to Paul ‘Frank’ Byrne murder

GARDAI arrested a man on Monday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Paul ‘Frank’ Byrne, whose remains were discovered in 2010.

The man, aged in his thirties, was arrested on Monday, January 30, in the Dublin area and taken to Baltinglass Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

On Tuesday, the man was released without charge.

According to a Garda statement, a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

This is the fifth person arrested to date in connection with the investigation.

Paul ‘Frank’ Byrne (20) was last seen on July 15, 2009, at Kilmartin Green in Tallaght.

He was reported missing to gardai at Tallaght on July 16 and a missing persons investigation undertaken.

The investigation was subsequently taken over by gardai in Baltinglass following the discovery of Paul ‘Frank’ Byrne’s remains.

His remains were discovered by a forestry worker felling trees in a remote area of Ballyfolan in Blessington on July 29, 2010.

Gardai said that the investigation is ongoing.
