Man (36) dies after tragic Tallaght shooting

A MAN who was shot in the head on farmland in Tallaght earlier this week has tragically passed away from his injuries this afternoon at Tallaght University Hospital.

The man, who has been named locally as 36-year-old Keith Conlon from Kiltalown Park in Tallaght, was shot in the head in a rural field which is used for farming in the Hazel Grove area of Tallaght on Tuesday afternoon, February 22, just shortly before 1pm.

It is understood Mr Conlon was out hunting with his dog with two other people at the time of the shooting and a dog was also allegedly shot dead during the incident, with Gardai recovering the body of the animal from the field.

A statement by Gardai this evening said: “Gardai continue to investigate the circumstances of a shooting incident at Hazel Grove Farm, Tallaght on Tuesday, 22nd February 2022.

“A man in his 30s was seriously injured in the course of the incident and was pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital, this afternoon, Thursday, 24th February 2022.”

A man in his early fifties, who is believed to be a legal professional, who was arrested at the scene is still being questioned by gardai.

He is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
