Man arrested following Clondalkin shooting incident

A MAN in his 20s has been arrested by gardai investigating the unlawful discharge of a firearm at Nangor Road, Clondalkin, on Monday, March 7, 2022.

An investigation lead by gardai at Clondalkin Station commenced after windows of a car were shattered when a firearm was discharged as a car stopped at traffic lights at the junction of Oak Road and Nangor Road, at approximately 9.45am on Monday.

The front seat occupants of the car, a woman and man in their 30s, were treated for non-life threatening injuries at St James’s Hospital following the incident.

A number of children who were passengers in the car at the time were not physically harmed.

It’s understood a car involved in the incident fled from the scene.

Following a search and arrest operation in the south east Dublin area this morning, Thursday, March 10, a man in his 20s was arrested.

He is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, at Clondalkin Garda Station and can be held for up to 72 hours.

Gardai say the investigation is ongoing.
