Man charged after cannabis herb worth estimated €500k seized

GARDAI from Clondalkin were part of an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the seizure of over €500,000 worth of drugs in west Dublin.

According to a Garda statement issued, approximately 29.46kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €589,200 was seized in the area on Thursday, November 23.

According to the statement: “The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Clondalkin District Drugs Unit.

“A man in his 40’s was arrested by An Garda Síochána, he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda Station in Dublin and was later charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act and appeared before CCJ on 25th November 2023.”
