MAN charged after “suspected assault and endangerment incident” in Citywest

A MAN (23) is due to appear in court this morning following a “suspected assault and endangerment incident” in Citywest yesterday.

The incident happened outside the Citywest shopping centre on Wednesday, October 23, at around 5.30pm.

According to a Garda statement issued today: “A man is due to appear in court following a suspected assault and endangerment incident in Citywest, Dublin.

“On the 23rd October 2019 at approximately 5.30pm a man in his 20s was injured when he was struck by a car during an in incident outside a shopping centre at Citywest.

“The injured man was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment, his injures are not thought to be life threatening.

“A number of Garda units and emergency services attended at the scene and a 23-year-old man was arrested.

“The man was brought to Tallaght Garda Station where he was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“The scene of the incident was technically and forensically examined and car was seized by investigating Gardai.”

The arrested man has since been charged and is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court this morning, October 24.

Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
