Man dies following fatal road traffic collision

A MAN in his 30s has tragically died following a fatal road traffic collision in Old Bawn, Tallaght this evening.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a refuse lorry during the course of his work.

He has been removed for a post-mortem which is scheduled to take place at a later date.

A Garda statement released this evening said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 4.25pm today Thursday 19th March 2020 at Dún An Óir, Oldbawn, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

“A male in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a refuse lorry during the course of his work. He was removed for post-mortem which is scheduled to take place at a later date.

“No other injuries were reported. The road remains closed and Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene.”

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and local Coroner have been notified.

Gardaí at Tallaght are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to them.
