Man driving van had no valid insurance

A MAN driving a work van that had no valid insurance was disqualified from driving for four years at Tallaght District Court.

Neil Ussher (50), Raheen Road, Tallaght, appeared before court facing road traffic charges.

The court heard that on October 14, 2024, garda stopped a van on Cookstown Road, Tallaght, and the driver Mr Ussher had no valid insurance or driver licence.

The court heard Mr Ussher has eight previous convictions including two for no insurance and was previously disqualified from driving, but was not disqualified now.

Defence solicitor Padraig O’Donovan said that on the day in question his client was using a work van and was close to home, but has not come to gardai attention since, and was seeking leniency.

Judge Áine Clancy told Mr Ussher that gardai have been “more than fair” with him.

“Somebody who has been disqualified should know better,” said Judge Clancy.

Judge Clancy imposed a four-year disqualification and fined Mr Ussher €750 for no insurance and €250 for not having a valid driver’s licence.
