Man due in court after €920k Clondalkin drug seizure

Cannabis, cocaine and heroin with a value of €920,000 were seized in Clondalkin last night as part of an ongoing Garda operation targeting a West Dublin drugs gang.

Gardai from the Ballyfermot/Clondalkin Detective & Drugs Units seized the drugs during a handover in the grounds of an apartment block.

According to a Garda statement: “Gardaí from the Ballyfermot/Clondalkin Detective & Drugs Units seized 23 kilos of herbal cannabis (subject to analysis) in the grounds of an apartment block during a handover.”

A follow-up search of one of the apartments resulted in 1kg of heroin, 3.5kgs of cocaine and 10kgs of cannabis resin being seized.

Three males, aged in their 30s, 40s and 60s, were arrested and detained at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

A Garda statement released this morning, Wednesday, said: “The male in his 30s is scheduled to appear before Court No 3, The Criminal Courts of Justice, at 10.30am this morning charged in connection with the seizure of the controlled drugs.”

The male in his 60s was released without charge on Tuesday night and the male in his 40s remains in custody.
