There they found an unresponsive male (32) with suspected stab wounds.

It is believed Mr McKeever was at the dwelling with a woman when another man arrived some time after 4am.

Shouting could be heard coming from the apartment, and Mr McKeever was stabbed a number of times in the chest.

Residents in the area have been left shocked, but many say the Deerpark estate has been in decline over the past 12 months.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, told Echo.ie that the level of crime in the estate has been on the increase for some time.

They said: “We’ve been living here for a few years now and you can see the difference in the estate in the last while, it seems every night we have garda up here for some reason.

“The kids seem to think it’s normal, but it’s not, they shouldn’t be seeing this sort of thing and thinking it’s normal.”

Gardaí wish to appeal to witnesses who may have been in Deerpark or may have heard a disturbance between 4am and 5.30am this morning to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
