Maughan family appeal for information into the murder of their son William

THE family of 34-year-old Tallaght man William Maughan will make an appeal for information about the murder of their son and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Anna Varslavane on Crimecall tonight.
Anna, originally from Latvia came to Ireland with her mother when she was eight-years-old. Sadly her mother passed away in 2013. William was from Tallaght and the couple lived together in Gormanston, County Meath.
William Maughan's mother, Helen makes an appeal for information on Crimecall tonight.
Anna and William had planned to leave Gormanston and move back to Tallaght on the day they disappeared. On Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2015, they left Gormanston to go and meet William’s mother, Helen Maughan to get a lift back to Tallaght. But when Helen arrived at their meeting point there was no sign of the couple. In the days that followed, there was no answer from their mobiles and no activity from their bank accounts.
Gardai believe that the couple were murdered but their remains have still not be found. Now, nearly four years later, William’s family are desperate to find William and Anna’s remains and give them the funerals they deserve.
Helen Maughan describes the last four years as “torture” and says their family has been “torn apart”.
“Nobody knows what this pain is until they’re in this situation themselves. It’s a nightmare that no family deserves to go through,” said Helen.
William’s father, Joseph, talks about the affect that the double murder has had on him personally.
“This has dragged me through hell. I’m just a broken man.”
William’s sister, Sabrina says every night she asks herself, “Will tomorrow be a better day? Is our William and Anna going to be found tomorrow?’”
Helen and Joseph make an emotional appeal to those people who have information to please come forward.
Helen Maughan asks, “If there is anyone with information out there…I plead to please have it in your heart to just pick up the phone.”
Her husband Joseph appeals to those with information on the double murder.
“Put the Maughan family at some kind of peace so we can lay our son with Anna. Please, come forward…Do the right thing.”
