FOR THE second season in succession Crumlin United raised the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup and they completed this year’s campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Letterkenny Rovers 5-0 in the decider in the Aviva Stadium.

Martin Loughran’s side, who finished third in the Leinster Senior League title race, have now accounted for no less than half of the last eight Intermediate Cup title wins.

Last month’s decider saw them out of the blocks on 15 minutes when Greg Moorhouse latched on to James Lee’s delivery to rifle home.

And they had to wait only three more minutes before doubling their advantage, Moorhouse again doing the honours when he slipped the challenge of Paul Boyle before seeing the ball past goalkeeper Rory Kelly.

Crumlin made it 3-0 ten minutes into the second half when Alan McGreal managed to carve open some space despite the best efforts of Ryan Lonergan and planted the ball in the bottom corner.

Substitute Dean Hurley saw the ball home for Crumlin’s fourth and Moorhouse was rewarded for his part in this goal by completing his hat-trick by means of a sublime back-flick that directed Forsyth’s pull-back to the net.
