Mother tragically dies in fatal road collision

A TALLAGHT mother was one of two people who died as a result of a fatal road traffic collision on Butterfield Avenue in Rathfarnham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Annmarie Hooper, who was in her 30s, died when the car that she was travelling in struck a lamppost.

The other occupant of the car, Dean Coleman, who was aged 24, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) are carrying out an examination of the crash, as gardai were in the area at the time of the collision.
It is understood that a post mortem took place on Tuesday.
Dean Coleman was a disqualified driver and was also known to local Gardai.
Ms Hooper was a past pupil of St Aidan’s Community School in Brookfield. Her nephew, Kyle Finnegan, tragically died from a suspected asthma attack in September 2018.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Tallaght are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Butterfield Avenue, Templeogue.
“A single vehicle collision occurred when that car left the road and collided with a lamppost.

“One man and woman were fatally injured and their bodies were removed to Tallaght University Hospital.
“GSOC were informed of this road traffic collision and are conducting an examination.
“The Garda Forensic Collision Investigation Unit has conducted their examination of the scene.
“Gardai are appealing for anyone who travelled the road at the time of the collision, and who may have dash-cam footage, to contact Gardaí in Tallaght on 01-6666000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
“GSOC were informed of the collision, as is the legal requirement by An Garda Síochána, as members were in the area at the time of the collision.”
