Motorists warned after bag snatched from car in Tallaght

Motorists in Tallaght have been warned to be aware of their surroundings and to keep their vehicle doors locked after a thief snatched a bag from a car on the Cheeverstown Road near the Luas stop yesterday evening at approximately 7:30pm.

Gardai have confirmed to Echo.ie that they are investigating the robbery which saw the victim take to Facebook last night to warn people of the terrifying incident that happened when she was parked at the traffic lights.

According to the woman, a young man appeared from nowhere, opened her passenger door and whipped the bag from the car.

It is believed the assailant then made his way back across the road and through the fence leading into Brookfield, behind the Luas stop.

In a statement released to Echo.ie, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating a theft from a MPV which occurred on 06/12/16 at approximately 19:30 at Cheeverstown Road.

“No arrests have been made in relation to this incident.”
