Murder most foul – and a Family Fun Day – at the Lucan Festival
A LOCAL festival being held this week has gotten off to a successful start.
Lucan Festival began on Monday evening with a play performed by Lucan Drama in Courtney’s bar – it was fully booked out.
The play is about the murder of a Lucan priest and the trial of the two people accused of his murder.
“The murder occurred at the top of Chapel Hill, nearly opposite the Church,” said Joe Byrne, Chairman of Lucan festival.
The play was also performed on Tuesday and Wednesday night and was fully booked out on both nights. Joe also provided walking history tours around the village on Tuesday and Thursday which were also well received.
On Tuesday the Lucan Festival inaugural chess tournament 2024 officially started at the Ballyowen Community Centre at 7pm for 5-8 year olds.
The chess tournament will continue on Wednesday and Thursday for the age groups 9- to 15-year-olds, and 16 years and up, respectively.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the fireworks display at the Weir View on Friday at 9 pm.
Liffey Sound’s presenter Kelly Darcy will be presenting live from 7pm at the display at the Weir View near Barnhill Cross.
Meanwhile on Saturday there will be an Open Day in Lucan House which will also be a fundraising day with children being able to attend for free and adults being asked to pay.
Amongst the events taking place on Saturday will be the Blissettes who will be performing in the Lucan House grounds at 2pm.
Sunday will see a Family Fun Day in the village from 12.30 pm to 5.30 pm with the Garda Station being open to the public and pet farms, puppet shows, various stalls, magicians and bouncy castles being some of the other attractions.
