Mystery tour makes its 27th annual trip
THE mystery bus tour was back again this year in lower Ballyfermot, as punters from Decies County Bar enjoyed their surprise annual trip.
Organised by local resident Noreen Fogarty and Decies County Bar, the mystery tour is a “totally free day out” for senior citizens, customers and friends of the bar and it normally attracts up to 100 residents.
Ms Fogarty said this was the 27th time the trip was organised – it was a shorter trip this year so people could enjoy more time in the fresh air.
Apart from a few organisers and the bus driver of course, nobody knew where the tour would travel, before it departed on Sunday at noon outside the County Bar.
“This year the mystery location was a trip to Carlow, a nice day in the countryside and back to Springfield Hotel in Leixlip,” said Noreen.
Noreen, who is the captain of Decies ladies darts team, calculates half the money for the day is raised locally and the other half contributed by Decies County Bar.
“I come up with the other half, which is subsidised through bingo and raffles throughout the year,” said Noreen, who was helped no doubt by the good standing of her darts team, which won the league this year.
As is the tradition with Decies mystery tour, everyone on the day receives a present, and a meal, with refreshments and snacks to keep people going throughout.
