New €5.1 million 16-unit residential development commences in Firhouse

WORK has commenced on the construction of a €5.1m 16-unit residential development in Firhouse.
South Dublin County Council said that the development is earmarked for completion in 2022.

The cost of the development, totalling €5.1m, was approved by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Known as Watercourse Grove, the development comprises nine two-bed and seven three-bed houses.
All of the houses are to be minimum A2 BER rated, and the housing provision includes two- and three-storey houses grouped in terraces.
Fianna Fáil councillor for Firhouse-Bohernabreena, Deirdre O’Donovan, told The Echo: “We’re delighted that work has started.
“We’re in the middle of a housing crisis and it’s important that we get projects like this off the ground.
“There’s a huge demand for housing within Firhouse, Bohernabreena, Rathfarnham and Templeogue, so we do need more developments like this.”
The rapid build social housing development was first mooted in 2018, for the site at the Homeville end of the Old Knocklyon Road, bounded by Firhouse Road and the M50 motorway.
Other works at the site include a new access point off Old Knocklyon Road, landscaping works to boundaries and a new park/play area, and ancillary works to landscape housing areas.
