New Castletymon library and mobile libraries are launched

CASTLETYMON Library and two new South Dublin Mobile Libraries were officially launched by the Mayor of South Dublin County Council.

It was a memorable morning of magic, music and many, many books as the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Peter Kavanagh, officially opened the new state-of-the-art Castletymon Library on Thursday, September 16.

After an anxious wait, the new library opened its doors to the public on September 1 and has been met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the community.

The new library will be an important feature in the community and offers services and facilities which include self-service kiosks, a 3D printer, computer and study spaces, free Wi-Fi throughout the building, and printing and photocopying services as well as shelves filled with books, audio books, DVDs and video games.

In attendance at the launch of the library and the two new mobile libraries was local councillors, library staff and local musicians and a magician who entertained the children for the morning.

For those who can’t make it up to the library, the new mobile libraries will be supplying a range of books for adults, teenagers and children as well as DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and large-print books.

The mobile libraries are due to be back on the road very soon, visiting schools, creches, afterschool projects and homework clubs across local areas.
