New five-year county plan sets out a vision and mission statement

A NEW Corporate Plan for South Dublin County Council will be adopted by December to provide “organisational reset and refocus” for action during the lifetime of the new council 2025-2029.

It follows the local elections which were held in June, and the start of a new five-year council term.

According to a report by the council, the plan will outline its vision and mission statement for the county, along with the core values and strategic priorities in how it delivers services and processes business performance.

The new plan will be drafted using an inclusive approach through consultation with citizens and other external stakeholders as well as elected members, staff and various committees with engagement and consultation due to commence shortly through a series of workshops across the county.

Members of the public and interested parties can engage in the process through the online consultation portal  up to September 27, 2024.

The report says national policy context for local government continues to be led by the prevailing housing and climate action challenges.

It says South Dublin County Council also has a responsibility to promote equality, prevent discrimination and protect the human rights of its members, employees and service users.

The 40 elected members in South Dublin County Council will consider the draft plan and decide on its adoption at the council meeting in December 2024.

A final adopted plan will then be officially launched publicly.
