No plans to upgrade old pool building

THERE are no immediate plans to upgrade the old swimming pool building beside the Clondalkin Leisure Centre, according to South Dublin County Council.

Cllr Francis Timmons (Ind) asked the council for a progress report on the old swimming pool beside at an area meeting just before Christmas.

In response, while SDCC said there are no immediate plans, an upgrade to the old library will be a long term project however no budget provision has yet been made for this project in the 3 year Capital Programme.

“The Capital Project pipeline has a large number of other capital project commitments, with a range of both community facility new builds to be delivered and community facility upgrades/extension and these all need to be progressed first before additional proposals are considered,” said a SDCC spokesperson.

“As a provisional step to progressing the proposal for future consideration, preliminary discussions will be arranged with the SDCLS and Senior Community staff in 2024 to discuss a consultation approach for community involvement and community consultation before any detailed assessment of proposed works can commence.”
