THE life of Tallaght resident Noeleen Doyle is being remembered and celebrated, after the 77-year-old passed away in January.

When Noeleen first came to Tallaght she lived in Springfield before moving to Bancroft Park with her true love Joseph, who passed away in 2018.

The couple had five children, Mary, Valerie, Brigid, Kevin and Joseph, who shared their memories of their mam and dad with The Echo this week.

Noeleen, who was still active, attending water aerobics and partaking in the mini-marathon, suffered a heart attack while in the credit union in Tallaght Village on Tuesday, January 17.

The mother-of-five, who was known for her kindness and her chips, was a firm believer in the Credit Union, and was well known to the staff in her local branch.

Noeleen also provided all of her family, and her six grandchildren, with their first credit union books, encouraging them to save.

Speaking with The Echo, Noeleen’s daughters thanked the staff at the Tallaght District Credit Union for caring for their mam when she passed away peacefully.

“Mammy knew all of the staff in the credit union and it was nice to know that she was not on her own, and that they were there with her holding her hand,” her daughters said.

“We’d also like to thank the pharmacist in Lloyds Pharmacy [in Tallaght village] who came up to the credit union with a defibrillator.”

They added: “We didn’t have a lot growing up but always looked fantastic going to school because mammy was putting a few pound away all year.

“She never missed a week, the credit union was so important to her.”

Looking back over Noeleen’s life, her daughters spoke of their mam’s enormous sense of community, and how she helped, and fed, everyone on the street – with pavlova, Mars biscuit cake and endless plates of chips.

“When she went into a room she lit it up,” they said.

“People remembered her.

“Over the years she took so many people under her wing, she was so kind.

“She touched so many in Tallaght, people just loved her.

True love – Noeleen and Joseph

“Anybody who was lonely or sad, she was there for them.

“She did it all so quietly though, she didn’t want any recognition and just did it all for her family and friends.

“She was an extremely heart-warming person and inspired many.”

A member of the Card Night Girls for 40 years and a regular face at the weekly bingo in The Dragon, Noeleen and husband Joseph made many happy memories in their Bancroft home.

“They had a lot of fun together, there was a lot of laughter,” the daughters said.

“They never kept secrets and while they drove each other mad sometimes, they were always together.

“They were a true love story.

“She loved our amazing father so much, and they are together now.”

The Doyle family wished to thank everyone in the community for their support in recent weeks, including the Tallaght District Credit Union, Lloyds Pharmacy and one of Noeleen’s great friends and hairdresser, Deirdre.
