Old Bawn gymnastics plan for new facility in Cookstown Industrial Estate

OLD Bawn Gymnastics has lodged a planning application for the change of use of a light industrial unit in Cookstown Industrial Estate, to instead house an indoor gymnastics facility.

Established in 1985, the club was previously based in Old Bawn Community School and caters for approximately 450 recreational gymnasts and 100 intermediate/advanced gymnasts.

The club is seeking permission for Unit 50 on the Cookstown Estate Road for internal amendments and all associated site works to facilitate the change of use.

A decision on Old Bawn Gymnastics’ planning application is due from South Dublin County Council by May 3.

However, they are not the first sports group to develop a base in the industrial estate, as it was also the former location of the Golden Cobra Boxing Club for several months.

The boxing club was located at 73 Cookstown Road until April this year, when they were notified that the landlord was selling the building the club was based in. They have since relocated to Rathcoole Village.
