He was part of the men’s 4x400m Irish relay team in the European Championships in Rome last month.
His club said: “It’s official! Jack Raftery has been selected on the Irish Olympics 4x400m mixed relay team with the full Olympic team announced.
“This is an amazing achievement for current national senior 400m champion Jack who has been aiming for this all year.
“Huge congratulations to Jack and all those who have supported him on his journey so far- his coaches and teammates and family .
“Jack’s athletics journey began in Donore Harriers and his late coach John Geoghegan who did so much to bring out his potential as a teen would be so proud to see this selection
“He becomes the first Donore Olympian since John Menton in 2000 and follows in the footsteps of the famed Jimmy Reardon who ran in the 1948 Olympics 400m”.
