On the red carpet with Bodkin: Dark comedic thriller about a crew of podcasters

It kept surprising me”, according to Rathfarnham-born Siobhan Cullen when asked about the story of Netflix’s ‘Bodkin’, in which she has a starring role, reports Ryan Butler.

‘Bodkin’ is a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters (Will Forte, Robyn Cara, and Cullen) who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town.

But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.

As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction—about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, about themselves—the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.

A Higher Ground production, ‘Bodkin,’ is one that Jez Scharf and Alex Metcalf co-showran, originally created by Scharf.

Executive producers include former President and First Lady of the United States, respectively, Barack and Michelle Obama.

Well-known Irish actors Chris Walley and David Wilmot star alongside the main trio in supporting roles, with guest performances from the likes of Fionnula Flanagan, Pat Shortt, Pauline McLynn, and more.

‘Bodkin’ was filmed in various locations across Ireland, including Union Hall Village, Drumadoon Pier, Poulgorm Bridge, and Glandore in West Cork; Ardmore Studios, Belmont Demesne, Carnegie Library, Enniskerry, Sallygap, and Travelahawk Beach in Wicklow; Fenian Street, Howth Village, Howth Castle, and Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin; and Dave’s Diner in Julianstown, Co. Meath.

All seven episodes dropped on Netflix on May 9 and are available to view now.
