AN ADULT Learners’ festival is taking place in Tallaght this February 23, and an invite has been extended to the entire community.

Running from 10am to 1.30pm in the County Library, Tallaght, the festival has been organised by Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed in partnership with Aontas, the Irish National Adult Learning Organisation, and the County Library.

The aim of the festival is to showcase the programmes and opportunities available to those wishing to return to education, upskill or retrain, with 18 organisations, including IT Tallaght, An Cosan, Threshold Training and Tallaght Training Network, already on the bill.

Maire Redmond, of the Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed, told The Echo: “There hasn’t been a fair like this in Tallaght for some years and we felt here at the Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed that there was a need to bring it back.

“There are great opportunities available across the area and plenty of supports on offer to help people who would like to return to education and the festival will showcase all of these opportunities in the one place.

“There’ll be people available on the day to discuss options with and we’d encourage anybody interested in life-long learning to come along, there’ll definitely be something for everybody on the day.”

People are invited to simply turn up between 10am and 1.30pm on February 23.
