Opportunities for employment and back to education at fair
THRILLING opportunities and a warm atmosphere were brought back for the second Employment and Back to Education Fair by South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum (SDMIF).
Over fifty between migrants, students, and members of ethnic minorities attended Tallaght Library on Saturday, October 12, to access information on how to go back to school or find their new career path across South Dublin.
More than 10 organisations such as An Cosan, National Learning Network, Women Collective Ireland, Adult Education Services, and TU Dublin had information stands and created awareness about the services and opportunities they provide.
Participants had the chance to explore job and networking opportunities and educational resources, with tips and guidelines on how to start their own business too.
“It was a great success, every organisation had the chance to highlight their projects, and all the participants gave positive feedback,” said SDMIF Chair, Yemi Ojo.
“They are happy to have a platform providing such well-needed information and they congratulated SDMIF for organising something so valuable to them.
“The event also brought new membership to Tallaght Library.” A three-course meal of African food was served, and free winter jackets provided by Tusla were available for participants who needed one.
Citywise Education, SDCC’s Integration Team, Fettercairn Diverse Women, and Integration of All Children Ireland (IACI) also had their stands at the event, to guide the participants on available opportunities within their networks.
Yemi thanked Tallaght Library for hosting the event and South Dublin County Community Development team who supported it.
“Thanks to General Secretary Foluke Oladosu, Deputy Chair Cristina and Treasurer Jessie Ellis from the SDMIF executive team too, for their selfless commitment and support,” she added.
SDMIF-South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum is made of migrant groups working in solidarity with other organisations. With their events, they aim at addressing community and migrant issues, promoting integration and cultural awareness.
