Over 2,650 visitors to mobile library stops in month of May

SOUTH Dublin Mobile Libraries had over 2,650 visitors to mobile stops during the month of May.

During May, they welcomed 2,652 visitors to mobile libraries across the county, averaging 17.4 people per stop. There are 36 stops in total.

Of the nine new stops introduced in March, eight of those are now in the top 50 per cent for footfall in all their stops.

These are Shackleton Drive, Rathfarnham Castle, Cúil Dúin Avenue, Silken Park Avenue, Citywest Village, Templeroan Lawn, Greydon Terrace and The Priory, Grange Road, Rathfarnham.

A new schedule for the summer includes three new stops – Parkland Green in City West, Moy Glass Wood in Lucan. and Whitechurch Community Centre.

After careful consideration, three stops that had very poor engagement over a long time were withdrawn – Sruleen, Homelawn and Brittas.

“They consistently had zero and up to four visitors every week and these stops either have a library within 3km or alternative stop with 3km,” said a mobile libraries report for May/June.

“The new areas we are going to have expressed an interest in having a mobile library service. Again, we can review this in September.”
