PLANS for the development of 702 apartments at the former Chadwicks site on the Greenhills Road in Walkinstown will be the subject of an upcoming pre-planning consultation.

Developer Steeplefield Limited, with an address in Dublin 2, submitted the application for the pre-planning consultation to An Bord Pleanála this month.

Pre-planning consultations are held in advance of developers submitting planning applications for Strategic Housing Developments.

A decision on the consultation is due by August 5.

The subject site went on the market in 2018. At the time, Stephen Mellon of Savills told The Echo that they were seeking offers “in excess of €3m” and that there was “strong interest” in the site.

The site is approximately 2.75 ha/6.8 acres and is located on the southern side of the Greenhills Road, approximately 225 metres from the Walkinstown Roundabout and around 8km from Dublin City Centre.

The location is within easy access of the M50/Naas Road (J9) & M50/Ballymount (J10) motorway junctions.

The site has the benefit of three access points all of which are off the main estate road along the site’s southern boundary. There are two access points to the main estate road off the Greenhills Road.

According to the brochure for the sale, the rates payable for 2018 were €62,852.

The site is zoned under objective ‘REGEN – To facilitate enterprise and/or residential-led regeneration’ in the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022.
