Over €672k funding approved to support community centres

A TOTAL funding allocation of €672,830 has been approved to support local community centres’ boards of management with employment and training costs, and the delivery of local community events and other running costs.

This figure was released by South Dublin County Council at a council meeting on Tuesday evening, where it provided information on funds from the Community Centre Management Support Fund.

At a council meeting last March, the council provided an itemised breakdown of the grants awarded under the Community Centre Management Support Fund.

The Bawnogue Youth and Community received the highest amount, €43,300, followed by the Palmerstown Youth and Community Centre with €41,900.

Glenasmole Community Association received funding of €41,400, while the Adamstown Youth and Community Centre received €41,200 and the Neilstown Community Centre received €40,600.

A total of €38,600 has been awarded to the Jobstown Youth and Community Centre, while the Park Community Centre and the Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre will receive €38,000 each.

The Perrystown Manor Estate Community Centre will receive €33,000, while the Ballyowen Castle Youth and Community Centre has been awarded €29,100.

The Whitechurch Community and Youth Centre has been approved for funding of €27,290, and the Rowlagh Community Centre has been awarded €26,900.

Smaller sums were awarded to other community centres, including Killinarden (€10,200), Ballyroan (€13,230), Firhouse (€8,515), Dominic’s (€7,780) and Knocklyon (€5,000).
