Party at the Port: Wild Youth to headline Cork Pride Festival in August
Ireland’s Eurovision 2023 stars Wild Youth will headline Cork Pride’s ‘Party at the Port’ event on Sunday, August 6, which will close out the 2023 Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival, reports Evis Zogaj.
The four man band, with members Ed and Callum from Tallaght, are behind ‘We Are One’ and will be performing only two months after representing Ireland at the annual Pop spectacular, which will be staged in Liverpool this year.
Speaking about the 2023 Cork Pride Festival, Clive Davis, Chairperson at Cork Pride said: “We are thrilled to have Wild Youth as our headline act for this year’s Cork Pride parade afterparty.
“Last year’s festival was a huge success as our first in-person festival post-Covid, but this year we are back even bigger and better. Over the years, the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival has grown significantly in terms of attendance, popularity and success, and this year we aim to continue this trend!”
Last year, the 2022 Pride Parade drew a crowd of almost 15,000 people, while the overall attendance for events across the week was over 30,000.
The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival’s 2018 theme is “30 Years On…,” marking the 30-year anniversary of the 1993 decriminalization of homosexuality in Irish law.
Cork Pride promotes and supports a good social, cultural, and economic environment for the Cork LGBT+ community.
Every year, the festival features events and programs like the Family Fun Day, the Work With Pride Diversity and Inclusion Conference, and the much-loved Cork Pride Parade followed by the Party at the Port.
Beginning on Sunday, 30th July, the curtain will come down on Sunday, 6th August – with the full festival line-up announced in the coming weeks.
