Patricia gets white wedding of her dreams

WHILE most of us were searching for bread on Wednesday morning, local lady Patricia Kiernan was looking for her pink wellies – to make it to her wedding on time.

Patricia definitely got the white wedding of her dreams, when she awoke to discover that the predicted snow had arrived a day early.

However, Storm Emma couldn’t get in the way of true love, with Patricia ‘rocking’ her pink, flowery wellies to get to her husband-to-be, Tony Mantero.

Patricia and Tony, who got engaged in February 2017, celebrated their special day in Finnstown Castle Hotel in Lucan surrounded by friends and family.

Last year, Patricia, who, living in Ballycullen, is a mother-of-two, bravely spoke to The Echo about suffering a stroke at the age of 41.

During her experience, Patricia discovered a serious lack of awareness among members of the public and the medical profession when the condition happened to a younger person – or those that didn’t show the common signs.

Patricia also documented her recovery to give other people hope, with the new bride coming a long way since her stroke in March 2017.

Speaking with The Echo on her wedding day, Patricia said: “The Beast couldn’t stop us from getting  married, unlucky for Emma!

“A few people had to cancel and the groom’s best friend, who was the Best Man, couldn’t fly because of the storm.”

However, despite some alterations to her day, Patricia and Tony’s celebration was in full swing when speaking with The Echo on Wednesday afternoon.

When asked if she had to make any changes on the day, Patricia said she “didn’t really” and was just going with the flow and adjusting to the day as it was going.

Looking forward, Patricia and Tony are planning to make up for the snow with a bit of sunshine.

She said: “We’re hoping to head down to Kerry when the storm stops and we’re off to Portugal in the summer.”

Congratulations to Patricia and Tony from all here at The Echo.
