Lucan Creative Writers and Liffey Sound FM came together to record Pen to Paper a Lucan Live Special presented by Maria Murphy in the Lucan Library last June and are being awarded the 2018 Achievement Award for Community Participation.

The members of Lucan Creative Writers enlightened and entertained the listeners with their inspirational prose and poetry throughout the broadcast.

The listeners sat back, relaxed and were challenged by the wonderful talent of Lucan Creative Writers.

The resulting broadcast reflects the true value of Community Radio, over the airwaves local people and local talent are brought into the kitchens and sitting rooms of their own neighborhood, their own locality and further afield to their relations and friends in the four corners of Ireland and abroad.

Listeners heard about the history and backdrop to Lucan Creative Writers as contributors gave their opinions on what makes a good story, on the benefits of being members of a writing group and how the advice and encouragement given by members is greatly appreciated.

It could be said that writing is a journey of the mind, underpinned by the heart and applied to paper by the trusty hand.

The story topics included, What’s Amazing and Awesome, Lucan Demesne, Darkness, A Parisian Scarf of light and shade that Pierre created and Ancient Warrior of Glen na Smol.

To write is more than putting pretty words on a page, the act of writing is to share a part of your soul with the world.

Fill the airwaves with the breathings of your heart was an apt description of the programme that received this prestigious award at the community forum of Ireland’s Feile in Athlone last weekend. The Podcast is available at www.liffeysoundfm.ie.
