Pieta reflects on impact centre has on community

PIETA staff, supporters and members of the Ballyfermot community gathered at Pieta’s Ballyfermot centre to mark their continued commitment to the community, since opening there in 2011.

Speaking at the event, Stephanie Manahan, Pieta CEO, said: “We are so proud to reflect on the impact the centre has had on the people of Ballyfermot and the wider community over the past 12 years. It is a testament to the efforts of our fantastic clinical team, fundraising committees, and Pieta supporters across the county, that we can provide these lifesaving services.”

A plaque unveiled by RTE broadcaster and Ballyfermot native, Joe Duffy, at the event, highlighted the work of Pieta therapists and supporters, who are dedicated to providing free professional therapeutic services to people suffering with mental health, self-harm or experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Pieta’s work is made possible by fundraising initiatives such as Pieta’s annual Darkness Into Light, which is taking place on May 6 and usually attracts thousands of participants.

Across 20 locations in Ireland, Pieta offers free counselling to those suffering from suicidal ideation and to people who are engaging in self-harm.

Pieta also operates a suicide bereavement counselling service to support individuals, couples, families, and children bereaved by suicide.

Staff are fully qualified and provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service.
