Plans for 205 build-to-rent Cookstown apartments

PLANS for the development of 205 build-to-rent apartments in Cookstown Industrial Estate will be the subject of a pre-planning consultation with South Dublin County Council and An Bord Pleanála.
Developer Boherkill Property Developments Limited lodged their plans for the consultation with ABP last week, and a decision on the consultation about the Strategic Housing Development (SHD) is due by May 7.

This is the latest of many applications for planning permission in the locality, with Cookstown Industrial Estate being the subject of several applications for SHDs in recent years under fast-track planning legislation.
Planning permission was granted to developer Pyrmont Property Developments Limited in 2018 for the construction of a 107-apartment unit development on Second Avenue.
The same developer also received planning permission for a separate 196-unit residential development last July, also to be located on Second Avenue in Cookstown Industrial Estate.
Plans for the demolition of existing industrial buildings at the Glen Abbey Complex in Cookstown Industrial Estate, to make way for the development of 211 apartments, are currently under consideration by An Bord Pleanála.
Developer Bartra’s controversial plans for 150 build-to-rent units, in five- to six-storey blocks, and 222 shared-living bedrooms, on First Avenue were refused permission by ABP last June.
Steelworks Property Developments Limited’s application for the development of 245 build-to-rent apartments on Fourth Avenue were also refused permission by ABP.
The construction of a link road from Belgard Square North to Cookstown Industrial Estate, which will likely serve future residential developments in Cookstown, began last December, with the council stating that the road is “essential to facilitate the future development of the Cookstown area”.
