Plans for 84 apartments at Cookstown House approved
PLANS for the construction of an 84-unit apartment block at the site of Cookstown House on Cookstown Way have been approved by South Dublin County Council.
Developer Samcava Ltd’s proposal includes the construction of 40 one-bedroom units, 36 two-bedroom units and eight three-bedroom units.
They are to be housed in a building ranging in height from four to seven storeys, while each apartment is provided with private amenity space in the form of a terrace or balcony space.
The units also will all have access to an internal communal amenity space at ground-floor level.
The proposal includes an external amenity space in the form of a designated communal open space area to the east of the proposed building.
This will be in the form of a central public plaza between the proposed building and the adjacent under-construction residential scheme at the Cookstown Gateway site to the north.
A total of 190 bicycle-parking spaces is provided at ground-floor level to serve the development, including two resident bicycle stores comprising 138 cycle spaces and four visitor bicycle-parking areas.
The proposed development also includes the provision of one commercial/retail unit at ground-floor level with bicycle staff cycle spaces provided internally.
Associated site and infrastructural works will include foul and surface water drainage, the provision of solar panels at the upper roof level, lighting, landscaping and boundary treatments.
Retention permission is also sought for the demolition of the previously existing, pitched roof, derelict structure on site known as Cookstown House.
On May 22, South Dublin County Council granted planning and retention permission to Samcava Ltd for the plans.
