Plans for gas fired power plant

PLANS for the construction of a gas fired power plant in Baldonnell have been lodged with South Dublin County Council seeking planning permission, reports Hayden Moore.

Centrica Business Solutions submitted the planning application to the council on June 25 in relation to lands at Profile Park in Baldonnell.

The proposed development would see the construction of a power plant which will have an electrical output of up to 125MW with associated balance of plant, equipment and buildings included.

An engine hall building scaling to 18.9m in height comprising of six gas engines and an Electrical Annex Building with a height of 18.7m and exhaust stack with a height of 31.8m make up part of the plans.

A workshop building, tank farm building, security hut, gas above ground installation with kiosk, radiator coolers and two electrical transformers with a height of 4.98m are all included.

The plans also take in the development of two diesel oil storage tanks, SCR Urea tank, lube oil storage tank, lube oil maintenance tank, pilot oil tank, effluent collecting tank, water storage tank and underground surface water attenuation tank.

The power plant is to be serviced by two access points onto the existing private road network in Profile park and there is provision for 12 parking spaces, footpaths, landscaping and associated works.

Third party submissions are being accepted up to July 29, with a decision due from the council on August 19, 2021.
