Prayer service being held in Tallaght ahead of Christmas
By Mary Dennehy
A SPECIAL prayer service is being held in Tallaght this Thursday, December 21, for anybody who may find the Christmas period difficult.
Called Blue Christmas, the prayer service will be held in St Thomas’s Church in Jobstown, with an open invitation extended to the entire community.
Speaking with The Echo, Fr Pat McKinley, said: “The prayer service acknowledges that a lot of people for one reason or another find Christmas a struggle.
“It is basically prayer support for those who find Christmas difficult.
“There are all sorts of reasons why people find Christmas difficult – like a bereavement, loneliness or addiction.”
He added: “We’re also having the prayer service on the darkest day of the year, December 21, to signify that there is light to be found as the days start to get brighter.
“We just wanted to get people together who may be struggling this time of year and give them the chance to pray and support each other.”
The prayer service in this Thursday, December 21, at 7.30pm in St Thomas’s, with tea and mince pies afterwards.
